Clint Beecroft, Southwest Regional Director, Pye-Barker: Best Advice

We keep the Best Advice Q&A series going with Clint Beecroft, regional director for the southwest region at Pye-Barker Fire & Safety. He talks about the best advice he’s ever gotten, offers some tips to young security industry professionals and singles out the person to whom all others in the security industry should always listen. Security Sales & Integration: What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Clint Beecroft: The most valuable advice I ever received came from my grandfather when I was 17 years old. About a week before his passing, I had the opportunity to sit beside him and spend time talking with him. During our conversation, he shared words that have stayed with me throughout my life: “Whatever you do, give it your all. Strive to be the best person for the job.” Those words became a guiding principle for me and they continue to influence the way I approach both my personal and professional life today. SSI: What advice would you give to those looking to achieve success in the security industry? Beecroft: The best advice I can give someone entering the security industry is to embrace change and stay open to new ideas. Never stop learning. The industry is evolving rapidly, and success depends on your ability to adapt and take advantage of emerging technologies. Always look for the “second right answer.” There is often more than one way to achieve a successful outcome and exploring different approaches can lead to better solutions. I would also echo the advice my grandfather gave me: “Whatever you do, give it your all. Strive to be the best person for the job.” SSI: If you could point to one person in the security industry and tell up and comers, make sure to listen to what they have to say.  Beecroft: There are many incredible people in the security industry whom I admire and I’ve been fortunate to learn from some of the best. While it’s hard to narrow it down to just one person, there’s one individual I communicate with regularly who consistently impresses me: Fred Johnson, vice president of integrations at Pye-Barker.
