Pavion Appoints Andy Bierer as CEO, Joe Oliveri Named Advisor
Security camera industry news & analysis
CHANTILLY, Va. – Pavion, a global provider of integrated security, fire, life safety and critical communication solutions, just appointed Andy Bierer as CEO, Security Sales & Integration learned this morning. This leadership succession, orchestrated by president and CEO Joe Oliveri and supported by the company‘s board of directors, culminates with today’s announcement that Oliveri will retire from Pavion following a successful period of leadership. Oliveri, who joined Pavion as president and CEO in May 2021, will continue to support the company as advisor to the CEO and the board. In exclusive comments to Security Sales & Integration, Pavion CMO Alan Rosenkoff says the timing of the move is unrelated to any shift in the company’s ownership or investment plans. “Pavion is making this transition from a position of strength, with a strong leadership team, a clear strategy and significant momentum across the business,” Rosenkoff exclusively tells SSI. “It is not tied to any changes in ownership structure, investment strategy or timeline.” What Does Andy Bierer Bring to Pavion as CEO? Bierer brings extensive executive experience and operational expertise, as well as industry knowledge across the building technology and services sectors, to his new role at Pavion. Most recently, he served as president of Automated Logic, a Carrier company and provider of building automation and control solutions. Throughout his career, he has led large, complex field organizations across North America and Europe, driving both organic and inorganic growth, enhancing performance and developing high-performing teams. In senior leadership roles at Carrier and Otis, he earned a reputation for scaling businesses and fostering company culture through employee engagement and development, while also ensuring safety, operational excellence and positive customer outcomes. Bierer’s background is rooted in building automation and controls rather than core security, fire or life safety systems — a contrast SSI raised directly with the company. Rosenkoff frames this as a deliberate fit for where Pavion is headed rather than a mismatch. “Our future is increasingly about connected technologies, intelligent infrastructure, innovative service and customer experience. Andy’s background aligns extremely well with that direction,” Rosenkoff exclusively tells us. “Pavion’s customers increasingly need integrated solutions that bring together security, fire and life safety, critical communications, automation, analytics, IT and software-enabled services.” Bierer’s Top Priorities Asked about Bierer’s priorities entering the role, Rosenkoff says that the new CEO’s first order of business is observational rather than strategic. “Andy’s first priority is listening and learning,” he tells SSI exclusively. “In fact, one of the first things he’s doing is getting into the field and spending time with teams and customers to understand what makes Pavion successful and where we can continue improving.” Beyond the opening weeks, Rosenkoff says Bierer’s first-year focus will track closely with Pavion’s existing playbook as opposed to charting new territory. He will continue to prioritize the customer experience, employee development, operational execution and service innovation. Rosenkoff describes continuity — rather than a change in direction — as the measure of early success. On whether Pavion will keep expanding its branch network and acquisition pace under Bierer or shift toward consolidating its current footprint, Rosenkoff describes the two as complementary rather than an either/or choice. “Going forward, we expect to continue investing in our existing operations and strategic M&A that strengthen our capabilities and create additional value for customers,” he tells us exclusively. “The emphasis will be disciplined growth, not growth for growth’s sake.” How Will Bierer’s Role Intersect with the Board? Asked how Bierer’s role will intersect with the board, Rosenkoff says the new CEO will work closely with directors on strategy execution, but he draws a line at governance specifics. “We’re not announcing any governance-related changes as part of this transition,” he tells SSI exclusively. Asked directly whether Bierer’s arrival signals changes to Pavion’s brand positioning, go-to-market approach or service lines, Rosenkoff says none are planned for now. “No significant changes are being announced,” he tells SSI exclusively. “Customers and partners should expect continuity in our mission, market focus and commitment to delivering integrated security, fire, life safety, critical communications and related technologies. Like any successful company, we’ll continue to innovate and evolve, but this transition is about building on a successful strategy rather than reinventing it.” Joe Oliveri’s Legacy at Pavion Oliveri led the creation of Pavion into a top brand and drove the significant growth that followed. Under his leadership, Pavion scaled to more than 70 branches, completed and integrated 24 strategic acquisitions, broadened its service portfolio and established the operating foundation to support continued organic and acquisitive growth. He also fostered an employee culture centered on delivering customer experience, while celebrating the contributions, achievements and tenure of Pavion’s talented team. Pavion’s Size and Scale Pavion has more than 2,500 employees worldwide and more than $1 billion in annual revenue. The company’s technical capabilities, customer relationships, expertise in mission-critical industries and experienced management team position the company for its next phase of growth. “Leading Pavion has been one of the greatest privileges of my career,” Oliveri says. “I am incredibly proud of everything our employees have achieved together. Andy is an outstanding executive whose industry perspective, global experience, proven judgment and commitment to people make him the right person to guide Pavion through its next stage of growth.” He continues, “I have tremendous confidence in him and look forward to serving as a resource to Andy and the board as Pavion builds on its position as an industry leader.” What Does Bierer Say About Becoming Pavion CEO? “I am honored to join Pavion and build on what Joe and the team have accomplished,” Bierer says. “I was immediately struck by the caliber of the people here, the strength of the customer-first culture and the trust the company has earned.” He continues, “Together, we will enhance the experience we deliver, strengthen our ability to connect and protect what matters most and cement our reputation as a destination workplace for top talent and the integration partner of choice for the customers and communities we serve.” The post Pavion Appoints Andy Bierer as CEO, Joe Oliveri Named Advisor appeared first on Security Sales & Integration.
