Wowza Launches Video Intelligence Framework for Real-Time Analysis

DENVER – Wowza, whose streaming software powers more than 35,000 video deployments and 200,000 running server instances across 170-plus countries, today announces the general availability of the Wowza Video Intelligence Framework (VIF): the intelligence layer for live video. VIF “embeds real-time AI analysis directly into the media server organizations already run – on their own hardware, inside their own network with no video leaving the building,” according to the company announcement. “The result: live camera feeds that alert, annotate and act – flowing intelligence straight into the dispatch systems, SIEM platforms and operational tools teams use every day.” The launch follows yesterday’s announcement that NVIDIA’s Synthetic Video Detector (SVD) will be the first partner model distributed through VIF. VIF “put[s] artificial intelligence where the video already is,” according to the Wowza announcement. “Organizations run their own models on their own hardware – at the edge, on-premises, in a private cloud, in hybrid configurations or fully air-gapped with no external dependencies after setup,” the announcement says. “Analysis runs in the streaming layer on local GPUs with sub-200-millisecond latency.” Why Did Wowza Release Video Intelligence Framework? “Our vision has always been that video will become the primary source of data for understanding the world,” says Krish Kumar, CEO of Wowza, in the company announcement. “For more than twenty years, we’ve made video run wherever our customers need it – on-premises, at the edge, in environments where failure is not an option. “Today, Wowza sits at the center of more than 200,000 running instances. Most of that video is still just being captured and stored. VIF turns it into how organizations see, decide and act – and it does it on hardware they already own, in networks they control,” he says. VIF features a fully air-gapped operation in which data never leaves the organization’s control and runs on existing infrastructure, with no new data center hardware required. It also “creates a significant new commercial opportunity for Wowza’s channel and integration partners,” according to the company announcement. VIF ships with production-grade models at launch, including an RF-DETR object detection model and CLIP-based scene analysis. NVIDIA’s Synthetic Video Detector is available through VIF for customers running supported NVIDIA AI infrastructure. Wowza will showcase the framework through dedicated customer briefings focused on security, public safety, transportation and industrial operations.
